Headcount Zero is owned and operated by me, Jan Singleton.

My unusual business name has a story behind it.
I have worked in a diverse range of businesses for almost 30 years – the most recent being IT.  In this industry, headcount is a common term given to permanent employees and is a rare commodity especially for administration staff.  I worked in the company for over 11 years, my services were crucial to the smooth running of the services arm of the business and most weeks I worked at least 50 hours.  But in all those years of service, I was employed on a contract basis and was never given a permanent position with the company.  There were always promises of course but every year was the same story.  Headcount for administration?  Zero!

So, when I decided to start my own virtual assistant business, Headcount Zero was born. 

And the Chameleon?  

Well  …I wanted a logo that would stand out from the rest –  be a bit creative.  I thought the chameleon was a good choice and a suitable ambassador for my type of business. 

A chameleon can adapt to suit many diverse environments (I have worked in many different businesses including accounting, management consulting, insurance, education services and IT); they are fast and accurate (my typing speed is 100+ wpm) and can look at a situation from more than one angle (I have excellent creative and analytical skills).
